The paper analyzes the influence of Brazilian ideas on changes in Colombian public purchases. Analytically, the article presents the debate between diffusion, transfer, convergence and translation of public policy. As results, it was observed that the changes in Colombian policies are the result of convergent ideas that have permeated Latin America and the Caribbean in recent years, the role of international organizations in the transfer of Brazilian initiatives, and the role of local actors in the search for lessons learned in other contexts. More than simply importing the Brazilian experience, local conditions demanded the translation of ideas regarding public procurement from family farming.
