This article aims to analyze conflicts and repression in the countryside of the city of Nova Iguaçu, from the 1950s until the end of the 1980s, with cases of the Pedra Lisa region as a thread of our narrative and analysis. The centrality of this region to our study is given by its pioneering and leading role of mobilization and peasant resistance before the military coup of 1964 and its influence on the mobilization of the decades that followed. From this analysis, it is possible to trace continuities and discontinuities, both in the repression of the political regimes treated in this article and in the local conflicts.
