This article aims to contribute to register and bring up to date the trajectory of one of the most revered scholars of the recent peasantry in Brazil, Jean Hébette. His research was notably relevant in relation to the Amazon, where he fought in defense of rights, human dignity, and dedicated himself to bring to light the most crucial issues that sacrificed (and still sacrifice) the local populations and their immigrants, who sought (and still seek) bread and justice.
Keywords: agrarian reform; peasantry; Amazon.
