Programa de Cooperação Nipo-Brasileira para o Desenvolvimento dos Cerrados – PRODECER: um espectro ronda os cerrados brasileiros
Abstract
O objetivo deste trabalho é tecer considerações e interpretações sobre o processo de implantação e execução do Programa de Cooperação Nipo-Brasileira para o Desenvolvimento dos Cerrados – PRODECER, seu significado, caminhos e estratégias percorridas e suas consequências desde sua implantação. Principal entre os projetos geopolíticos de intervenções e os programas, pensado e concebido a partir de 1974 entre os governos do Brasil e do Japão, foi, a partir dos seus métodos e concepções, um dos que mais contribuiu para mudanças na paisagem e no perfil econômico e social, transformando os cerrados no principal polo de crescimento da agricultura brasileira dos últimos 40 anos. O projeto se moveu e se estruturou em um espaço geográfico que se consolidou como a mais importante fronteira agrícola do século XX, constituída no Brasil, e seus fundamentos ainda se reproduzem no século XXI, na constituição novas fronteiras agrícolas e nas relações internacionais do país.
