Práticas de sustentabilidade e interfaces estratégicas em pequenas e médias propriedades rurais do interior paulista
Abstract
Os pequenos e médios produtores rurais sofrem pressões para que melhorem a produtividade com a conservação dos recursos naturais, proteção ao meio ambiente e respeito às pessoas. Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar práticas de gestão orientadas à sustentabilidade e os fatores inibidores e facilitadores de tais práticas. Foi realizado um estudo de casos múltiplos em seis pequenas e médias propriedades rurais do interior do Estado de São Paulo, envolvendo entrevistas, observação direta e exame de documentos. A análise dos dados evidenciou que os pequenos e médios produtores rurais possuem, em geral, pouca escolaridade, adotam algumas práticas de gestão com orientação à sustentabilidade e apresentam uma visão em parte otimista sobre o tema. A capacitação dos produtores precisa levar em conta o seu perfil específico, questões como disponibilidade de tempo para evitar conflitos com períodos de safra e poderiam ter os técnicos das cooperativas como multiplicadores-chave.
