A certificação independente no mercado agroalimentar: o consumo de OGMs
Abstract
A partir da década de 1980 vários incidentes com produtos alimentares chamaram a atenção para a sua segurança à saúde. Em reação, novos mecanismos foram criados e implementados na tentativa de lidar com a questão. Dentre eles destaca-se a certificação independente (third-party certification). Este mecanismo se apresenta com o intuito de diminuir o receio dos compradores em relação aos produtos consumidos. Neste texto, discute-se como a certificação independente tem se inserido nas cadeias de produtos alimentares e que impactos ela pode trazer no consumo de organismos geneticamente modificados a partir de preocupações com seus potenciais efeitos sobre a saúde de seus consumidores. Para tanto, utilizamos um aparato analítico institucional- volucionário para entender a relação entre firmas e consumidores e os esforços das primeiras em moldar as escolhas dos consumidores num ambiente incerto.Downloads
