Os mercados e a teoria das instituições
Abstract
Muitos dos princípios teóricos da economia neoclássica podem ser questionados, sobretudo quando se analisa o comportamento dos indivíduos nos mercados. A Teoria Econômica das Instituições, com algum grau de proximidade com a Nova Sociologia Econômica, apresenta um conjunto de proposições alternativas para a análise dos mercados. O objetivo do texto é propor um quadro analítico dos mercados a partir do conceito de instituições, recorrendo, sobretudo, às contribuições de Douglass North, um dos principais representantes da denominada Nova Economia Institucional. Trata-se de um ensaio teórico e como principais conclusões destaca-se que i) os mercados são estruturas socialmente construídas moldados por instituições e ii) as instituições, por sua vez, são um sistema de regras formais e informais.
