Soja transgênica no Brasil: os limites do processo de difusão tecnológica
Abstract
O surgimento da soja transgênica no Brasil tem estado no centro de um extenso debate, envolvendo tanto aspectos relacionados às vantagens e desvantagens de sua adoção, quanto o comportamento das instituições presentes no marco regulatório de tal fenômeno. Este artigo tem como objetivo avaliar o processo de difusão tecnológica inerente à soja transgênica no Brasil, no período de 1998 a 2005, a partir do ambiente institucional voltado à regulação do processo de difusão e adoção de tecnologia genética. Para tanto atenção é dada ao comportamento da empresa Monsanto diante das dificuldades que emergiram ao longo da definição institucional relativas à liberação do plantio comercial do produto no Brasil. Na presente análise foram identificados os principais atores que participaram desse processo de difusão bem como o arcabouço institucional envolvido nas relações comerciais estabelecidas entre o inovador e o usuário.
