O novo rural paulista: evolução e perspectivas
Abstract
Nos anos 90 consolidou-se uma mudança estrutural nas ocupações da população rural paulista, de tal forma que, a partir de 1997, mais de 50% da população economicamente ativa (PEA) estava ocupada em atividades não agrícolas. Com esse quadro, o texto traz uma análise sucinta da evolução e das perspectivas do novo rural no Estado de São Paulo, tendo como principais destaques as recentes transformações ocorridas no meio rural, a distribuição das ocupações agrícolas e não agrícolas da PEA rural, as características das famílias rurais e a qualidade do emprego rural não agrícola (ERNA) vis-à-vis o emprego nas tradicionais atividades agropecuárias. O enfoque da análise está concentrado no meio rural não metropolitano paulista.
